The Alberta Underwater Council needs volunteers!
"Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless." – Sherry Anderson
What jobs need to be done?
- Archivist - needed to help decide what from the past needs to be preserved & what can be pitched. Photos, videos, dvd's, etc, to be looked at and evaluated, etc. Work with the Executive Director at AUC office in Edmonton.
- Librarian - needed to help catalogue the array of Resource Library books that are available for loan for members from the AUC. Work with the Executive Director at AUC office in Edmonton.
- Clerical - assistance needed in the AUC office from time to time to assist with membership updates, etc.
Board Members - are always needed each year to run for positions on the Board of Directors of the AUC. Time committment required: 1 Board Mtg per month (via phone conference call or in person at the AUC office), attendance at the AGM, plus additional committee work as needed. Attendance at a weekend Planning Meeting in the fall of each year to help evaluate current programs and decide priorities for the future year planning. Board members from different geographical areas of the province and backgrounds are encouraged to get involved & can easily be communicated with via email & telephone conferencing, etc.
Dive Event Safety - each Alberta Dive Event needs volunteer safety DM's - if your dive master rating is current, then DM insurance maybe available for you at no cost. Evaluate the "Dive Safety Site Emergency Plan" for each event, log divers in and out of the water at event, etc. Please contact Cathie at the AUC office for more info about this program.

Lake Cleanup Volunteers - shore support, paddlers & divers needed to help out at every Dive Alberta event starting with the Jasper Aquathon & Lac Beauvert Cleanup on the May long weekend, ending with the Wainwright Pumpkin Dive and Lake Cleanup at the end of September, with many dates and locations in between to choose from.
How much time committment do you need?
It all depends on the volunteer job chosen and your schedule!
